A solar battery is what you add to your Solar PV system to store the excess electricity generated by your solar panels.

You can then use that stored energy to power you home at times when your Solar panels don’t generate enough electricity, including at night, on cloudy days, and during power outages.

Solar for Homes Rebate

Typical households can save more than $1,000 per year to energy bills when switching to solar, and an extra $640 per year with a solar battery installed.

Sun Station is an Authorised Solar Battery Provider under the Victorian State Government’s Solar for Homes Program. A rebate is available for homeowners with existing homes, and homes under construction.

Eligible homeowners can access an Interest-free loans of up to $8,800 towards the installation cost of a Solar Battery System.

Eligibility Criteria

Victorian households are eligible to receive the rebate if they meet the following criteria:

you are the owner-occupier of an existing property where the system is to be installed
the combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $210,000 per year
the property is valued at under $3 million
the property address has not previously received a solar battery rebate
the property has a solar panel system with an inverter capacity equal to or greater than 5kW,or will have one installed in conjunction with the solar battery installation.
the energy storage solution has a capacity equal to or greater than 6kWh and is listed on Solar Victoria’s battery product list and the property does not have an existing energy storage system.
pre-approval is obtained from your Distributed Network Service Provider (DNSP) to safely connect a battery to the grid
the owner/s agrees to receive information from their Distribution Network Service Provider about taking part in battery trials to maximise the value households get from them.

The benefit of the interest free loan is that you can pay back the loan using the significant savings achieved by reducing power bills.

How does Solar work ?

Solar Power is produced when energy from the sun is converted into electricity

Energy created by the heat and light of the sun is called Solar Energy.

Regardless of the type of system, all Solar PV Systems work on the same basic principles.

Solar panels first convert sunlight into DC power using what is known as the photovoltaic (PV) effect.
The DC power can then be stored in a battery or converted by a solar inverter into AC power, which can then be used to power your home or business.
Depending on the type of system, excess solar energy can either be fed into the electricity grid for credits or stored in a variety of different battery storage systems.
